Ok, I'm ready to book
Below are a few of the most frequently
asked questions that people ask when
ready to book. Your question's not
here? Send us an e-mail or give us
a call, we're here to help!
How do I book?
Over the phone is the easiest way.
Have your driving licence and credit
card to hand and call
020 8543 5722. We will e-mail
or post your booking details and conformation
letter out immediately.
What licence do I need?
You need to hold one of the following
licences to take part in CBT: a full
UK car licence or a provisional licence
with valid provisional motorcycle
entitlement (Category A) or provisional
moped entitlement (Category P) if
you only want to ride a moped;
or an EU licence with valid UK counterpart.
If you are not sure of your entitlement
you can always phone the DVLA on 0870
2400009.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring your signed UK licence,
CBT and theory certificate if booked
on to a full licence course - forgetting
could result in your course being
cancelled. If you have a photo card
licence, you will also need to bring
the counterpart licence (the paper
part).
Whatever the weather wearing suitable
clothing is a must! A strong jacket,
long trousers (jeans are fine), sturdy
footwear (strong shoes or boots) are
essential. Failure to wear suitable
clothing could result in us being
unable to train you for safety reasons.
Bring your own equipment if you have
it. If not, Advantage will always
provide you with a top quality helmet,
gloves and waterproofs for your comfort
and safety in all weathers.
Bring your glasses or contact lenses.
You will need to read a registration
plate at a minimum distance of 67
feet (20.5 metres).
If you are using your own bike, you
will need to bring all the documents:
valid motorcycle insurance, valid
road tax, valid MOT certificate (if
your bike is more than three years
old) and full sized L-plates displayed
both front and rear.
What can I do to prepare?
A good read of the Highway Code is
always helpful, along with the DSA's
book, "Motorcycle riding: the
essential skills".
Concentrate whilst driving your car!
Do you check your mirrors before
signalling, braking, turning? Think
carefully about your positioning,
especially at junctions!
Get out all your documents the night
before and get a good night's sleep!
Being on a bike for a day can be very
tiring.
